About Midwifery Care

The word "midwife" comes from the Latin roots "with" and "women".  Throughout all time, and in every culture,  midwives have served as the nutritionists, herbalists, doctors, ministers, counselors, all rolled into one 'profession' serving women and their families.

Today, Certified Professional Midwives are skilled professionals who offer individualized care, education, counseling and support to expectant mothers in pregnancy, labor, birth and early postpartum.

Meet Kassia Walcott, LM, CPM, MBA

Kassia Walcott is a Texas Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife with the North American Registry of Midwives.  She lives with her husband and three children in Plano, Texas.

Kassia gave birth to her three boys in hospitals, not knowing much about alternative options.  With her third hospital birth, she and her husband received the care and support of an amazing doula, who opened up a whole new world to her about the sacred nature of birth and the need for women to be respected and nurtured through pregnancy, birth and the postpartum time.

Kassia felt called to do this for others in turn.  She became a doula as soon as possible and then started midwifery school at the MEAC accredited Midwives College of Utah in 2013, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2015.  Kassia loves working with doulas and other providers.  She is passionate about providing choices for how and where we give birth.  She feels honored to help mothers and their families build villages of community and support.

Meet Margie Wallis, LM, CPM

Margie Wallis, is a Certified Professional Midwife in Frisco.  She and her husband are proud parents of four sons.

Right after high school, she studied biological sciences with a goal of pursuing obstetrics.  But, realizing she wanted to get married and have children, she switched her major so she could get a Bachelors degree before starting her family.

Each of her four births moved her further along the path toward midwifery.  During her 15-year career as a stay at home mom, Margie built a satisfying career as doula and childbirth educator.  When her 4th son started Middle School, Margie began her pursuit of midwifery.

Margie has devoted her career to helping women embrace pregnancy, birth, and parenting and explore the richness of life through these most rewarding and transformative experiences.

Meet Krista Young, LM, CPM

Krista Young is a Certified Professional Midwife and Licensed Midwife in Texas.  She, her husband, and three children live in Celina, Texas.

Her journey to midwifery began with a quiet calling from the Lord. At that point she was working on pursuing a masters in Early Childhood Development and was searching for long term direction within the field of study.

The home birth of her second child and teaching childbirth education started Krista on the path to becoming a midwife. During her apprenticeship, she trained with both a certified professional midwife and a certified nurse midwife at a birth center in the Dallas area.

Krista feels incredibly blessed to be a midwife and have the opportunity to walk along side women as they experience the miracle of pregnancy and birth!
